Girls Varsity Track, Varsity Track · New Women’s Track and Field Head Coach!

AIKEN, SC – Aiken High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Kayla Ennis as the school’s next Head Girls Track and Field Coach. A committee of AHS coaches, parents, boosters, and administrators tasked with searching for the school’s new head Track and Field Coach is excited to announce its selection to lead the Aiken High Track and Field team to the next level.

Ennis has competed in track and field for a decade. She began her track and field career at Pelion High School, earning 10 all-conference finishes and graduating with the school record in the 400 meter hurdles. She continued her athletic career at the College of Charleston. Ennis currently holds the College’s sixth-fastest time in the outdoor 400-meter hurdles (1:05.02).

“We are fortunate to have come out of the process with parents, fellow coaches, and administrators with the very best candidate that will no doubt lead Hornets Track and Field into the future,” states Aiken High principal, Dr. Jason Holt. “We have a bright future with her at the helm, and our athletes and families will be fortunate to have such a great coach leading them daily. Go Hornets!”

Ennis is a graduate of the College of Charleston with degrees in French and Francophone studies and Foreign Language Education. She is currently a first-year teacher at Aiken High School.

“It has been a dream of mine, for many years, to have the opportunity to guide the future generation, both academically and athletically. I am honored and grateful that Aiken High School is allowing me to bring this dream into fruition. Track and Field has been an integral part of my life and has taught me countless disciplines that have been crucial to my successes as a student-athlete, an employee, and above all, as a person. I am thrilled to coach our student athletes and teach them that great achievements are within their limits. It is my hope and intention to create a respectful, thriving program, fueled by high-achieving athletes and I couldn’t think of a better place to start this journey. Go Hornets!!”

Ennis currently lives in her hometown of Pelion.
